Mr. Choo Been Chuan

Our Mr. Choo, attended his secondary school education at Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Sam Tet, Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan.  Thereafter he went to Australia to pursue his pre-tertiary education (Year-12) at Canning College, Perth, Western Australia.

Listed below are our Mr. Choo’s academic and professional achievements:-

1. graduated from the School of Laws of the renowned University of Buckingham, UK with an Honours Bachelor Degree in Laws (L.L.B Hons.);
2. pursued his post-graduate study in Malaysian laws at the University of Malaya and successfully completed his study with the award of Certificate in Legal Practice with honours by the Qualifying Board of Malaysia;
3. took up the part-time MBA Programme Specialising in Financial Management and Investment conducted by the University of Hull, UK and has successfully completed the programme with a MBA degree specialising in Financial Management and Investment; and
4. attended the specialised course on Commercial Arbitration conducted by Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and has successfully passed the entry level examination.
5. is an Approved Company Secretary prescribed by Section 139A Companies Act 1965.

Mr. Choo has undergone both his legal attachment and chambering in the chamber of Mr. Romesh Roy Joshi of Messrs W.Y. Chan & Roy, Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan prior to being called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on the 29/1/1994.

Mr. Choo has been actively and continuously practising laws in Ipoh for more  than  eight (8) years before joining us  as Senior  Legal

Assistant on the 1/12/2002 and been keeping in touch with the current legal development in Malaysia where our Mr. Choo has been in active legal practice continuously in Malaysia for not less than Twenty (20) years.

Mr. Choo is presently the Managing Senior Associate in charge of our branch office in Kuala Lumpur, and he also regularly assists by attending to numerous cases in our main office in Seremban.

Mr. Choo has all these while concentrated his practice on several main areas of civil laws particularly Law of Contract, Commercial Laws, Land Law, Laws of Banking, and Companies Law.

As regard to matters on conveyancing, Mr. Choo has immense experience in attending to various kind of sale and purchase transactions involving both individual and corporate clients; and he is also conversant with solving and giving legal opinions on diverse issues arising under the National Land Code, Strata Titles Act, Malay Reservation Enactment, Land Acquisition Act and other relevant legislations currently in force. 

Our Mr. Choo is also knowledgeable and familiar with matters related to bank facilities’ security documentation, including creation of debenture, legal charge or preparation of assignment for housing loan or commercial loan.  Besides conventional loan, he is very familiar with Islamic Loan and Security documentation as these practice is growing in incremental range.

In matters under the Law of Contract, Commercial Laws, and Companies Laws, Mr. Choo is involved in drafting and vetting of all types of commercial agreements such as shareholders agreement, partnership agreement, joint-venture agreement, loan agreement, contract of employment, and etc.   He is also knowledgeable in various aspects of Company Secretarial works.

In addition, Mr. Choo also has vast experience in matters concerning planning and administration of estate, such as drafting of wills or trust deed, extraction of probate or letter of administration.

As regard to commercial dispute or otherwise, Mr. Choo is armed with hands-on legal experience and knowledge that he gained throughout all these years of practice in law enabling him to play his role as a mediator in solving the commercial dispute efficiently and expeditiously by way of either mediation or arbitration.

In light of the current trend of adoption of information technology by various institutions in all aspects of its management, we believe that our Mr. Choo with his knowledge and hands-on experience in computing and information technology has greatly contributed to our Firm to adapt ourselves in this age of information technology so that we can play our role as a legal services provider more efficiently.
